DPT/DTaP Vaccines

//DPT/DTaP Vaccines

Historically, probably the most controversial of all the vaccines, and the most well known for harmful effects. The DPT is comprised of a vaccination against Diphtheria, Pertussis (whooping cough) and Tetanus. All three of these illnesses are bacterial in nature.

Media coverage of the DPT vaccine’s damaging effects heightened in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Parent’s accounts of autism, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, anaphylactic shock, and other forms of brain damage rang through documentaries, newspapers and magazine articles.

All whole cell DPT vaccines contain mercury in the form of Thimerosal. Mercury is one of the most toxic substances known to man and has been linked with forms of brain damage, including Autism.

Japan postponed DPT vaccines until the age of two years of age and virtually eliminated SIDS in their country. Much of Europe abandoned this vaccine.

In 1986, the government created the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act to alleviate drug companies’ exposure to lawsuits. Today, if your child is damaged by DPT/DtaP vaccines, you cannot sue the doctor, the hospital, or the drug company. You have to wade through years of bureaucratic red tape in hopes of justice and be paid with taxpayer’s money. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been paid through this “no fault” comensation system, even with stringent criteria for qualification.

The DtaP vaccine was created to assuage fears over the notorious pertussis component of the vaccine. It contains an “acellular” pertussis component which is supposed to be less reactive in children, but some experts question this. It has been plagued by the same kinds of adverse reaction as the whole-cell vaccine.

Standards of Living Improvements

Before 1933, when poverty, malnutrition and poor hygiene and sanitation existed, these disease were more prevalent and harmful. With major improvements in standards of living since, diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus are almost non-existent. Although the medial and pharmaceutical industries claim hollow victories through the use of these vaccines, the claims do not stand up to scientific scrutiny. Despite the more than 70 years of controversy since that time, this vaccine continues to be used.

Combined Vaccines Less Effective

“A combination vaccine developed to reduce the number of vaccines infants receive appears to provide less immunity than the vaccines administered individually, according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Vol. 293 No. 14, April 13, 2005. The researchers concluded, “These results highlight the unpredictability of immune responses to individual vaccine antigens after incorporating multiple antigens into combination vaccines…” (2)   WAVE invites you to examine the historical data of diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis individually to evaluate the efficacy of the DPT/DtaP vaccines and how they have affected (or not affected) the decline of disease. 2. Combination Vaccine Produces Lower Immune Response Than Vaccines Administered Separately. Science Daily 2005 http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/04/050420091653.htm
